Nigeria is a federal republic in West Africa. It is bordered by Benin to the south, Chad to the east, Cameroon to the north and northeastern Nigeria shares a border with Niger. Nigeria has an area of over 700,000 square kilometers and a population of over 170 million. The country is made up of 18 states and 4 Federal Territories. The capital and largest city is Abuja. Nigeria is a member state of the African Union, United Nations, OPEC and World Bank. In 2007, Forbes rated Nigeria as one of the worlds 100 most powerful economies.
